Signs You May Need a New Aircon Installation

A new aircon installation may be the better option if you notice:

Smell Issue

Your current aircon breaks down frequently, and repair costs keep increasing

Poor Cooling

The air conditioning system struggles to cool rooms evenly

Water Leakage

Water leakage or piping issues continue even after servicing and repairs

Dirt / Discolouration

Your unit is older than 10 years

No Deep Cleaning

Renovation or moving into a new property

Health / Allergy Issues

Outdated non-inverter technology

For many Singapore homeowners, upgrading to a newer inverter system improves cooling performance while helping reduce monthly electricity costs. Not every issue means replacement is needed. Some units just need servicing, especially if the installation was done properly.

Our Full Aircon Installation Process

The steps below apply to a full aircon installation where no existing piping is in place, or where existing piping and cables are being replaced. If you are replacing an existing aircon system with reusable piping, the process is different. Find out more on our Aircon Replacement page.

01

Site Assessment and System Recommendation

The site is assessed before recommending a suitable system based on your home’s layout and room size.

02

Removal of Existing Units

We carefully remove the front panel, filters, and water tray to access the internal components that a regular service cannot reach.

03

Installation of Trunking, Piping and Drainage

Plastic trunking is installed first, followed by drainage, then copper piping with insulation and wiring, all according to your home’s layout and requirements. For older flats, existing piping may need to be replaced once the old unit is removed and the full condition is assessed.

04

Mounting Indoor and Outdoor Units

Indoor fan coil units and outdoor condensers are installed and aligned for optimal airflow, access, and cooling efficiency.

05

Vacuuming and Vacuum Testing

Before starting the system, vacuuming is carried out to remove moisture from the piping system. Vacuum testing is then conducted to check for any significant leaks in the aircon system before it is switched on.

06

System Testing and Handover

Airflow, cooling performance, drainage, and thermostat controls are tested before handover. Basic usage is explained before the technician leaves.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How much does aircon installation cost in Singapore?

A full aircon installation has two components. The first is the cost of the aircon unit itself, which depends on the brand, system type, and cooling capacity. Our units are priced from $980 to $5,400.

The second is the piping installation, which starts from $200 per unit for standard BTO installations and varies depending on your property layout and requirements. WhatsApp us to arrange a site visit and we’ll provide an accurate quote for your home.

Aircon installation refers to a full installation: new aircon units, new piping, insulation, and electrical cables. This is usually needed for new homes with no existing air conditioning system. Aircon replacement is when we swap out your existing units while reusing the current piping, making it a more affordable option.

Full aircon installation usually incurs an additional piping surcharge starting from $200 per unit, while aircon replacement does not. As piping requirements vary by home, we typically require a site visit before confirming the final quote for a full installation. WhatsApp us and we’ll advise which applies to your situation.

This depends on the condition of your current piping system. In most cases, we can reuse existing piping and proceed with a straightforward replacement. However, a full installation with new piping is usually recommended if you have experienced frequent gas top-ups, water leaking from your aircon pipes, or water leaking from your plastic trunking.

These are signs that your existing piping may be deteriorating. WhatsApp us and we will advise based on your situation.

We install major brands including Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Panasonic, Midea, LG, Toshiba, Gree, and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.

Many homeowners in Singapore commonly choose brands such as Mitsubishi Electric, Daikin, Panasonic, and Midea for their reliability, cooling performance, energy efficiency, and long-term servicing support. The most suitable system depends on your property layout, cooling needs, and budget

Prices usually vary based on piping length, installation difficulty, concealed piping work, and whether additional electrical work is involved.

The quality of workmanship also plays a role. Some aircon installation companies in Singapore rely on in-house trained technicians with consistent standards, while others outsource work to freelancers and contractors to cut costs. Freelancers and contractors are typically paid per job, which can result in rushed installations that compromise on quality and long-term system performance.

At Jex Aircon, all installations are carried out by our own in-house team. Proper vacuuming, vacuum testing, and quality materials are standard on every job.

The most common residential aircon systems in Singapore are non-inverter and inverter systems. Non-inverter aircons operate at a fixed speed and may consume more electricity over time, while inverter systems adjust cooling output automatically to improve energy efficiency and maintain more consistent temperatures.

Most modern homes today use inverter aircon systems due to lower energy consumption and quieter operation.

Most HDB installation jobs finish within a day, although some layouts take longer if piping access is difficult.

Full installation pricing can vary depending on piping routes, trunking layout, electrical access, outdoor unit placement, and installation difficulty.

For some properties, floor plans may be enough for an estimate, while others may require a site visit before the quotation can be confirmed accurately.

Standard installation usually includes basic piping, insulation, drainage piping, and electrical cabling. Additional charges may apply for extended piping runs or concealed installations.

The correct cooling capacity depends mainly on room size, layout, ceiling height, and heat exposure. A unit that is too small may struggle to cool properly, while an oversized unit may use electricity inefficiently. Most homeowners choose the cooling capacity based on the room measurements and usage needs.

The cooling capacity is usually shown on the sticker label attached to the indoor or outdoor aircon unit. It is commonly listed in BTU or kW together with the model number and electrical specifications. If unsure, the existing model number can also be checked to identify the current system capacity.

An SS (stainless steel) metal bracket is an externally mounted support structure used to hold the outdoor condenser unit in place. It is required when your home does not have a built-in concrete ledge.

A concrete ledge is a built-in platform that is part of your home’s structure, designed to hold the outdoor condenser unit. Most HDB flats and some condominiums come with a concrete ledge already in place. If yours does, no SS bracket is needed.

If you are unsure whether your home requires an SS bracket, WhatsApp us with a photo of your outdoor unit area and our team will advise you before installation.
